William C. Walker, MD, is the Ernst and Helga Prosser Professor and Vice Chairman of Clincal Care in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Medicine, Richmond, VA.
Dr Walker is board-certified in PM&R with 20 years experience performing clinical care and clinical research in persons with TBI and has over 50 peer reviewed manuscripts published. He is medical director of the Rehabilitation and Research Center at VCU Health Systems (VCUHS), attending for the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Unit, and Director of the Concussion Care Clinic at VCUHS. Since 2002
Dr Walker has been Principal Investigator and Site Director for the Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center in Richmond. He is active on multiple clinical research grants involving persons with TBI including Principal Investigator on a large epidemiologic study of Mild Traumatic Brain Injury sequelae caused by blast exposure during Operations Iraq Freedom and Enduring Freedom. He is a long-standing investigator on the NIDDR funded TBI-Model Systems of Care and lead author recipient of the Mitchell Rosenthal Award for best scientific publication in 2006-7 using the NIDRR-funded TBI Model System National Data Base.
