Fellowships

Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is seeking BE/BC candidates for Traumatic Brain Injury (1-2 years), Pediatric Rehabilitation (1-2 years), Spinal Cord Injury Medicine fellowships (1-2 years), Pain Management (1 year - ACGME Accredited) .

PM&R is also offering an Interventional Spine (1 year) and  TBI (1 Year) instructor-level clinical training  faculty positions with attending duties.

Candidates must have good clinical, academic credentials, proven research interests, demonstrated ability to establish new clinical initiatives, effective oral/written communications and leadership skills. Ability to work in team environment is essential and must have completed residency training at an accredited institution. Must be U.S. citizen or work eligible. Individuals with interest in academics, general rehab, TBI, Pediatric Rehab and SCI should apply.

Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center is a 700-bed facility incorporating a regional Level I Trauma Center, with NIDRR Brain Injury Model Systems, National Institutes of Health TBI Network Site and an NIDRR Rehabilitation Research and Training Center for Supported Employment. Clinical facilities include, a 41-bed inpatient rehabilitation service (with a 15-bed Brain Injury and 10-bed Spinal Cord Injury program), a 20-bed brain injury early recovery and a 10-bed subacute pediatric brain injury programs, and Children’s Hospital, a free-standing comprehensive pediatric rehabilitation facility. The Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center offers 16 inpatient beds with a federal funded Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center, a comprehensive inpatient/outpatient SCI system of care. The department also provides physical medicine and electrodiagonistic services at four outpatient musculoskeletal and sports medicine programs.

Well-established research programs in pain, brain injury, neuropsychology, SCI and vocational rehabilitation, along with multi-departmental excellence in neuroscience within the medical school provides a fertile research environment. A strong faculty research mentorship is in place. Excellent clinical working relationships with associated medical and surgical departments exist. Individuals with interests in physical medicine and general rehabilitation should apply.
