PM&R RESIDENCY PROGRAM

VIRGINIA COMMONWEALTH UNIVERSITY (VCU)
Welcome and thanks for your interest in the PM&R residency program at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) and the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals. Our three-year fully-accredited PM&R residency program accepts 6 residents annually (through NRMP) and stresses comprehensive medical rehabilitation for individuals with traumatic brain injury, stroke, musculoskeletal injury, spinal cord injury, pediatric disorders, orthopedic and multi-trauma injuries, along with specialty outpatient clinics for pain management, musculoskeletal, sports medicine, electrodiagnosis and orthotics/prosthetics.
Upon completion of our fully accredited PM&R residency, VCU graduates demonstrate the knowledge & skills to be highly competent Physiatrists and leaders in the field of PM&R. A combined approach of extensive clinical exposure, bedside teaching, formal lectures, and research mentoring is provided by an experienced and nationally recognized faculty. An Interdisciplinary team approach is utilized, working closely with physical/occupational/speech therapy, nursing, psychology, social work, along with other medical/surgical specialties: such as neurology, neurosurgery & orthopedics.
