VCU Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation

PM&R Opportunities: Shadowing Program

The purpose of this opportunity is to give medical students at VCU some exposure to the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation. Currently there are no M2 classes devoted to PM&R nor are there M3 rotations available in the VCU curriculum. The PM&R Shadowing Program at VCU will give interested medical students clinical exposure to PM&R early in their medical school experience.

I. General information

The Shadowing Program will be set up on a self-serve basis. There are three general categories from students to choose from: 1) inpatient at VCU Medical Center and the VA Medical Center, 2) outpatient at various clinics including Sheltering Arms (multiple locations), Children’s Hospital, Health South Day Rehabilitation Program, Stony Point, Massey Cancer Pain Clinic and EMG testing at the VA, 3) Consult service with VCU residents. It is recommended that after you select a PM&R physician, clinical opportunity and time/location, you e-mail the physician to let them know you will be attending on that day and time.
